Have you ever made cornflake wreath cookies? This Christmas Wreath Cookie Recipe is one of my favorite holiday treats because it adds a pop of color and is the perfect addition to my cookie trays.
With their beautiful green color and festive wreath shape, making a batch of these delicious cookies will get you in the holiday spirit.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
This is a No Bake Cookie Recipe! One of the best parts of these festive Christmas wreath cookies is that you won't have to turn on your oven!
Just 5 Ingredients! With just a handful of ingredients, you can make these cornflake Christmas wreath cookies in no time flat! It's also one of those Christmas treats I make over and over again because everyone loves them and they all get eaten so quickly!
You can make this recipe in about 1 Hour! The actual time to make the cookie is about 15 minutes. This recipe only makes 12 cookies. But, they're really so quick that you could make a double batch! It is one of my favorite easy recipes.
Equipment Needed
- Large pot or saucepan
- Spatula or large spoon
- Nonstick cooking spray
- Large cookie sheets
- Parchment or wax paper
Ingredients
- Mini marshmallows - see notes for using regular-size marshmallows in the substitution section of this post.
- Unsalted Butter
- Corn Flakes
- Green Food Coloring - I think the gel kind gives the best results.
- Red candy sprinkles or Jimmies - Some recipes use red hots for the holly berries, but I don't love those, so I use sprinkles instead.

Instructions
Step 1. Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Set aside. Generously butter a large spoon or spatula. Set aside.
Step 2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat.
Step 3. Add the mini marshmallows to the saucepan and continue heating, stirring continuously, until the mixture is smooth.
Step 4. Add a couple of drops of gel food coloring and stir until the color is completely incorporated.
Step 5. Fold the corn flakes into the melted marshmallow mixture, stirring gently to avoid crushing the cereal.
Step 6. Using the buttered spoon or spatula, drop the cornflake mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
Step 7. Gently make a spot in the center of the pile of cornflakes by pushing them to the side with the spoon. This will make the center of the wreath shape. Repeat with the rest of the mixture.
Step 8. Add red jimmies. Allow to set for about 1 hour.
Pro Tip
After you add the cornflakes to the marshmallow mixture, you can add a few more drops of food coloring to deepen the green color. I love this effect because it gives the cornflake Christmas wreaths a variegated color - similar to the look of a real Christmas wreath. Stir gently to make sure not to crush the cornflakes.
Storage and Freezing
Store the cornflake wreaths in a single layer at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Freeze these cookie wreaths in a freezer storage Ziploc bag for up to 3 months. Place layers of parchment or wax paper between the layers to prevent them from sticking and help them to hold their shape.
Substitutions
Large marshmallows - For this recipe, we used a 10-ounce bag of mini marshmallows, which is equal to about 40 regular-size, large marshmallows.
Liquid Food Coloring - If you don't have gel food coloring, use about 1-2 teaspoons of liquid to color the marshmallow mixture.
Rice Krispies - No cornflake cereal on hand? Substitute 4 cups of Rice Krispies cereal instead! Since these have the same ingredients as Rice Krispie treats, it is an easy swap.
Red mini m&m candies - If you're like me and are not a fan of the red hot candies, swap them out for mini red m&m's.
Notes/FAQs
- You can spread the wax paper or parchment on your counter instead of using a large baking sheet. However, I like to do this because then I can transfer the cookies out of the way while they finish setting up.
- If you don't have a saucepan large enough to combine the ingredients, you can add the cereal to a large mixing bowl and pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the corn flakes.
- Working quickly is essential once you stir the marshmallow mixture and the cornflake cereal together. Once the marshmallow mixture starts to set up, it gets harder to form the wreaths.
