Ingredients

  • 30 fresh strawberries
  • 1 10-ounce package dark chocolate melting wafers
  • 1 10-ounce package white chocolate melting wafers
  • Sprinkles optional

Instructions

  • Line one large baking sheet with paper towels and another with parchment paper or wax paper.
  • Rinse fresh strawberries and drain them in a colander. Place them on the paper towel-lined baking sheet to dry completely. Any excess moisture will prevent the chocolate coating from sticking properly. It can also cause your chocolate to seize or get lumpy. See the troubleshooting section for more on this.
  • Melt the dark chocolate according to package directions in a small microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler over low heat to melt chocolate slowly for the best results.
  • Hold the strawberry by the green stem and dip it into the melted chocolate. Let the excess chocolate drip off, then place it on the parchment-lined sheet.
  • While the chocolate coating is still wet, add sprinkles or toppings. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature. This will take about 10 minutes. Do not transfer them to the refrigerator.
  • Melt the remaining white chocolate or dark chocolate and drizzle it over the chocolate-dipped strawberries. You can also use a festive bright pink chocolate drizzle.
  • Allow the Valentine’s Day strawberries to set completely before serving.

Notes

Storage & Freezing Instructions
Place in a single layer inside an airtight container and keep at room temperature for up to 24 hours.
If needed, store in the fridge for up to 2 days. After that, the strawberries will get a little mushy.
Freezing is not recommended.
Natalie's Pro Tip
My favorite way to add drizzle to strawberries is to add the melted chocolate to a sandwich bag with the corner snipped off. This allows you to have total control of where the drizzle is and how thick it is. You can also use a spoon to add the drizzle.
For the easiest way to dip strawberries, use a heat-safe glass bowl when melting chocolate. This helps the chocolate stay warm longer, making the dipping process smoother!
