This Banana Pudding with Cream Cheese is one of those classic desserts that never goes out of style. With layers of creamy pudding, sweet banana slices, and a delightful crunch from vanilla wafers, it's a dessert that's loved by all generations.
Place softened cream cheese in a large bowl and mix with a hand mixer until smooth (about 30 seconds).
Add the instant pudding mix and cold milk to the cream cheese and start mixing on low speed. Increase the mixer speed and blend to combine. Let stand for 5 minutes.
While the pudding is setting up, cut the bananas into slices that are about ¼-inch thick. Set aside.
Fold in ½ of the Cool Whip to the cream cheese mixture until completely incorporated.
Place a single layer of vanilla wafers in the bottom of a 9"x 13" glass casserole dish (or baking pan).
Add ½ of the pudding mixture, spreading it evenly over the wafers.
Add a layer of sliced bananas on top of the pudding.
Repeat by adding another layer of cookies, the remaining pudding, and sliced bananas.
Top with remaining Cool Whip to cover fresh bananas.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until cold. Garnish with crushed cookies, more banana slices and whipped cream.
